GOD'S GIFT OF RIGHTEOUSNESS
"For the sin of this one man Adam caused death to rule over many. But even greater is God's wonderful grace and his gift of righteousness, for all who receive it will live in triumph over sin and death through this one man, Jesus Christ." (Romans 5:17 NLT)
"Because of his grace, he declared us righteous and gave us confidence that we will inherit eternal life." (Titus 3:7 NLT)
Jesus is God's gift of righteousness.
Christianity is God's gift of righteousness.
Salvation is God's gift of righteousness.
Christianity is not a do-it-yourself religion. The one and only thing that you and I can ever do ourselves is fail and fail and fail. But there is no failure in grace. We can never, never, never, earn our new testament righteousness. If you want to live a victorious Christian life, you need to know the reality of your righteousness in Christ.
"Righteousness...there is no other word in the Bible, or in theology, which is less understood and appreciated than this word...righteousness comes to us in the new creation. It restores our standing before God. It takes away the old sin consciousness that has crippled and robbed us of all our spiritual initiative, confidence and assurance...it restores to man a standing before the Father on the same ground that Jesus enjoyed in His earth walk. Remember the fearlessness of Jesus...righteousness is a masterful thing...the greatest freedom is freedom from sin consciousness. Man has a highly developed sin consciousness, a spirit inferiority complex, a sense of unworthiness that dominates him...unless you know who you are and what you are in Christ, you cannot live a victorious life."
Two Kinds of Righteousness The Most Important Message Ever Offered to the Church E. W. Kenyon
"We obtain self-righteousness by trusting in our own actions. We receive God's righteousness by faith in Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:8-9)...there are two kinds of righteousness: the kind that we produce by our own actions and the kind that God gives us when we are born again...in our born again spirit, we are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus (2Corinthians 5:21) the Jews were ignorant of God's righteousness, and so are most religious people today. They don't understand that we are made righteous the moment we place our faith in Jesus Christ. We don't become righteous gradually as we improve our actions. We are born again righteous -- it's a gift."
Grace -- The Power of the Gospel Andrew Womack
"The peace you seek cannot be found in your own righteousness...peace with God results not from trusting your own righteousness but from trusting only Christ. Have faith in Him and the gift of His righteousness. Begin now to allow the Lord to show you how to live in His righteousness rather than your own...our righteousness cannot earn us right standing before God. Such a standing before God must be imputed to us, as a gift by God Himself. The grace of God is primarily the gift of God's righteousness through the blood of Jesus Christ. And as a believer you have it. Right now!"
